The light

“Deep in their roots, all flowers keep the light,” Theodore Roethke once said.

It’s the end of June, and I look for bright flowers when I take my early morning walk. I always fill better—stronger—after my walk—especially in the summer when the morning air is still fresh and cool—and I know the heavy heat will blanket the air later in the day.
